Mactac IM1763 Double Coated PE Foam Tape, 1/32 in, 1 in x 216 ft (Macmount 555, Macbond Ultra 555)

Description

The IM1763 foam tape is the heavy duty member of the Mactac Macbond Ultra 555 family, built on a 1/32 inch white PE foam carrier with MP555 permanent rubber adhesive coated 2.6 mils onto each face. Combined carrier and adhesive caliper runs 35.25 mils. A 78# SCK liner with medium release peels clean without tearing, and the roll ships self-wound, permanent to permanent, 1 inch wide by 216 feet long on a 3 inch plastic core.

Where the IM1763 foam tape gets used

Interior wall mounting is the main job. Acoustic panels, architectural detailing, soap and sanitizer dispensers, mirrors, shiplap and decorative paneling, interior signage, nameplates, wire clips, and surface mounted electrical channel all go up with it, and the same foam that carries the adhesive damps panel buzz and low frequency noise behind the face. What wins ADA and office signage work is adhesion to zero VOC painted drywall, a low energy surface that walks most thin acrylic tapes off the wall inside a season. Display fabricators run it in point of purchase assembly, where a rigid faceplate has to sit flat against a substrate that is slightly cupped. On most of these installs it replaces mechanical fasteners outright, so there are no drilled holes, no anchors, and no patching afterward.

How the IM1763 foam tape holds up

MP555 is a rubber pressure sensitive adhesive tuned for high tack and peel while keeping the cohesive strength that rubber systems usually trade away. Under a 1 kg static load it runs past 500 hours before shear failure. Apply at 50F or warmer so the adhesive wets out, then the finished bond holds from -40F to 190F. The 1/32 inch foam compresses to bridge orange peel texture, joint compound ridges, and the small mismatch between two dissimilar substrates, and it stays compressed under load rather than springing the edges open. Ultra 555 is water resistant, which is why fixture mounting in restrooms and kitchens does not need a separate sealant bead. It cross references to 3M 4032.
