How Do You Install a Deform-Nut Anchor in a Honeycomb Panel?
You drill one blind hole, rivet the Deform-Nut to the top skin, pot it with structural adhesive, and screw a threaded bush down to the back skin. Monarch lists the sequence below for honeycomb and sandwich panels, and the TC/DM and TC/SC1 pages describe the same process. Check the anchor page for sizing against your panel thickness.
- Drill a blind hole from one side of the panel, sized for the tubular rivet and threaded adjusting bush. For TC/SC1 anchors, use the 13mm pre-drill cutter bit.
- Insert the tubular rivet into the hole.
- Insert the spindle of the deformation tool, such as our manual rivet tool, into the rivet.
- Run the tool to deform the rivet so it clamps onto the panel skin.
- Unscrew the tool from the deformed rivet.
- Inject structural adhesive into the rivet, such as UltraLok 300.
- Insert the threaded adjusting bush into the rivet.
- Screw the bush in with a tool until it reaches the skin on the far side of the panel.
- Remove the tool. The threaded insert is ready for the bolt that attaches the mounting hardware.
