Description
Permabond 737 Black Magic is a black, rubber-toughened ethyl cyanoacrylate built for bonds that see impact, peel, and vibration. This 1 oz bottle is past its rated shelf life and is priced down accordingly. It suits evaluation work, fixturing, prototypes, and non-critical repairs where fresh-spec material is not required.
What Permabond 737 Black Magic Does
Standard cyanoacrylates cure rigid and can crack under shock. The toughened formula stays flexible after cure, with peel strength of 40 to 60 N per 25 mm and impact strength of 5 to 10 kJ per square meter. It fills gaps up to 0.5 mm and handles service from -55 C to 120 C, a wider window than typical instant adhesives. Fresh material grabs steel in 25 to 30 seconds, aluminum in 30 to 35, and rubber in 10 to 15, reaching full strength in 24 hours. It bonds metals, plastics, and rubbers, and with a polyolefin primer it also takes on PP, PE, and PTFE.
Permabond 737 Black Magic Past Shelf Life
Cyanoacrylate thickens as it ages. Expect viscosity above the fresh 2,000 to 4,000 cP range and possibly slower fixture times from this bottle. Run a test bond on scrap before committing real parts. For production work that needs in-date certified material, buy current stock and keep this bottle on the bench for shop repairs and trials.
