Description
Permabond 737 toughened cyanoacrylate is a black, flexible instant adhesive built for assemblies that need more impact and peel resistance than a general-purpose cyanoacrylate. It bonds aluminum, zinc-plated or uncoated steel, selected plastics, and rubber while filling gaps up to 0.5 mm. The dark color also helps the bond line blend into black or shadowed components.
Where It Fits
This grade suits housings, brackets, rubber components, trim pieces, and mixed-material assemblies exposed to vibration or occasional shock. Its 2,000 to 4,000 cP viscosity stays where placed more readily than a wicking grade, making it useful when parts have a visible gap or when an operator needs controlled placement. Bond trials remain important on plated metals, low-surface-energy plastics, and flexible elastomers because surface condition affects cure speed and final strength. Evaluate peel, impact, and temperature exposure on production parts before approving the process.
Application and Cure
Clean, dry, and degrease both surfaces before applying a small amount to one side. Bring the parts together promptly, align them, and hold steady until handling strength develops. The technical data reports handling times that vary by substrate, including about 15 to 20 seconds on steel, with full strength developing in 24 hours. Keep the adhesive film thin and avoid disturbing the joint during the initial set.
