Description
Polygel 35 rubber is a Polytek self-thickening, brush-on polyurethane liquid mold rubber supplied here as a 16 lb kit for making thin, stretchy blanket molds. After Part A and Part B are mixed, the material thickens to a creamy consistency that can be brushed or troweled onto vertical and overhead model surfaces. Polygel 35 rubber For Brush-On Molds
Polytek designed Polygel 35 for brush-on moldmaking where a pourable rubber would run off the model or require a more complex dam. The first coat is often applied without added thickener, then later coats can be built up as needed. The material is useful for architectural elements, sculpture, concrete casting patterns, wax work, and other models where a flexible skin mold and support shell are part of the process.
Polygel 35 rubber Technical Profile
Published specifications list a 1A:1B mix ratio by volume or weight, Shore A35 hardness, 10 to 15 minute working time, 16 hour demold time at 73 F, light blue cured color, specific gravity of 1.02, elongation of 620 percent, tensile strength of 436 psi, and Die C tear strength of 70 pli. Those values make the rubber soft and stretchy enough for detailed brushed molds while still giving a workable production window.
Application Notes
Prepare the model before mixing. Porous materials such as wood, plaster, stone, pottery, or masonry should be sealed, then treated with a suitable release agent. Non-porous models also need release where bonding could occur. Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly until the color and consistency are even, then brush the first coat into detail before building the mold to the needed thickness.
Manufacturer And Buying Context
Polytek product information is available from Polytek. Choose the 16 lb kit when a small pail or trial size is too limited, but an 80 lb kit is more than the job requires. It is a practical size for mold shops, decorative concrete teams, prop builders, and fabrication crews that need a brushable polyurethane rubber for repeat moldmaking work.
