Description
The 23L-B is an adjustable canister adhesive spray gun for spraying contact cement and other canister adhesives straight from a pressurized canister. It connects to the canister by hose, so there’s no pump or compressor at the station. Ours ships with a 9501 tip, which throws a 95 degree wide pattern, and the gun’s adjustable pattern and flow control let the installer tune spray output as panel sizes and adhesive demand change.

Performance in Production
- The included 9501 tip sprays a 95 degree fan, the widest angled tip in the lineup. That suits full sheets and large flat panels where you want to lay down coverage in fewer passes.
- Adjustable spray pattern and flow control on the gun let the installer tune output while working, so coverage can follow the job as it moves from a full sheet to a smaller part.
- Tips swap on the nozzle. Drop to a 6501 or 4001 for narrower parts, or a 250050 for very narrow strips and edges, without changing guns.
- The gun runs off canister pressure through the hose. No compressor, no air line, and no pump at the station, which keeps the setup portable for field installs.
- A built-in trigger lock secures the trigger when the gun is set down between parts.
- The same gun works with canister cleaners as well as canister adhesives. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s cleanup directions for your material.
- Metal construction holds up to daily shop use on a production spray station.

How a Canister Spray Adhesive System Works
A canister system is three parts: a pressurized canister of adhesive, a hose, and a spray gun. The canister supplies the pressure, so the gun sprays as soon as the valve is open and the trigger is pulled.
- Connect the hose to the canister and to the gun inlet. Snug the fittings before opening anything.
- Open the canister valve to pressurize the hose.
- Set the spray pattern and flow on the gun, then test on scrap until the pattern looks even.
- Spray at a steady distance and overlap your passes. Follow the adhesive’s directions for one-sided or two-sided application and for dry time before bonding.
- Engage the trigger lock whenever the gun is set down.
- At the end of the shift, close the canister valve and follow the adhesive manufacturer’s shutdown and cleaning directions, including running canister cleaner if they call for it.
Canister systems are used on laminate, wood panel products, foam, and upholstery fabric, depending on the adhesive in the canister.
Frequently Asked Questions
What spray tip comes with the 23L-B spray gun?
The 23L-B we ship comes with a 9501 tip, which sprays a 95 degree wide pattern. Some listings show the 23L-B with a 6501 tip. Ours carries the 9501.
What’s the difference between a 9501 and a 6501 spray tip?
The 9501 sprays a 95 degree wide pattern, and the 6501 sprays a 65 degree medium pattern. Use the 9501 for full sheets and large panels. Switch to the 6501 when the parts get narrower.
Can you adjust the spray pattern on the 23L-B?
Yes. The 23L-B has an adjustable spray pattern and flow control, so the installer can tune spray output while working. For a big change in pattern width, swap to a different tip.
What spray tips fit the 23L-B canister spray gun?
The 23L-B accepts the 9501, 6501, 4001, QSS, 250050, and 650050 tips. The Compatible Spray Tips table above lists the angle and pattern width for each. Call us for tip availability.
Does the 23L-B come with a hose?
No. The hose is sold separately in 6 ft, 12 ft, and 25 ft lengths with fittings. The shorter hoses suit a fixed spray station, and the 25 ft hose gives more reach around large parts or on a jobsite.
Do you need an air compressor for a canister adhesive spray gun?
No. The canister supplies the pressure through the hose, so the 23L-B sprays without a compressor, air line, or pump.
Is a canister spray gun the same as a contact cement spray gun?
Yes. Canister spray gun, canister adhesive spray gun, contact cement spray gun, and cylinder spray gun all describe the same tool. The 23L-B works with canister spray adhesives, including our canister contact cements, and with canister cleaners.
