Description
QGel 327 is a clear, fast-cure silicone gel encapsulant from CHT Group, formulated as a moderately cross-linked polymer for electronic assemblies that need cushioning without added weight or stiffness. The gel mixes one part to one part and cures into a soft, resilient layer that stays flexible over the life of the assembly, which keeps stress off solder joints as the housing heats and cools in service.
Where This Encapsulant Is Used
Circuit boards and sensor modules use QGel 327 as a protective fill wherever vibration, thermal cycling, and mechanical shock threaten solder joints and fine wire bonds. The clear finish lets a technician visually inspect components after potting, which matters on assemblies that still need rework or field diagnostics after the gel cures. Moisture protection is a second benefit: the cured gel forms a barrier that keeps humidity and light condensation away from populated boards in outdoor enclosures, off-road equipment, and marine electronics. Test and measurement housings that see repeated transport between job sites also benefit from the shock isolation the soft gel provides around connectors and sensitive leads.
Mixing and Encapsulant Cure Time
The one-to-one mix ratio by volume works equally well through automatic metering and dispensing equipment or by hand for smaller production runs and prototype work. Fast cure keeps parts moving through the line without long fixture times, and the finished gel stays soft and resilient rather than turning brittle with age or thermal cycling. Degas the mixed gel briefly if the potted cavity has fine features, since trapped air can leave voids under closely spaced components. Working time is short enough to keep the line moving but long enough to fill a moderately complex cavity before the mix begins to set, which cuts down on scrapped batches from premature gelling.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| SKU | QUA QGEL 327 |
| Manufacturer | CHT Group |
| Chemistry | Moderately cross-linked silicone gel |
| Appearance | Clear |
| Mix Ratio | 1:1 |
| Cure Speed | Fast cure |
| Application Method | Automatic dispensing or hand mixing |
Both components ship with a matched shelf life, so plan usage around the shorter-dated container rather than storing one part indefinitely. Keep the two containers capped between pours and note lot numbers if a job needs to be repeatable across production runs. QGel 327 is available through Chemical Concepts casting and potting compounds alongside other one and two-part potting compounds, and full technical data is published by CHT.
