Description
QSil 1000 is a one part, self bonding silicone elastomer for potting and sealing assemblies that run hot. It adheres to many substrates without a primer, holds up to 300 C in service, and cures to a 43 Shore A red rubber when heated.
Where QSil 1000 Is Used
This elastomer pots and seals lighting, electronics, and high temperature modules where a flexible, heat stable rubber is needed. The primerless grip on many substrates, including galvanized metal, cuts a step out of the process, and the red color makes coverage easy to inspect. It suits assemblies that combine heat, vibration, and the need for a tough but flexible seal. Because it cures to a true elastomer rather than a soft gel, it also serves as a flexible seal or gasket formed in place on parts that move with temperature, and the self bonding chemistry keeps that rubber anchored to the housing through repeated thermal cycles instead of lifting at the edges.
How QSil 1000 Cures and Performs
As a one part addition cure material it contains 100 percent solids with no solvents, so cured parts show little shrinkage and no solvent flash off. The material must be heat cured, and elevated temperatures bring it to a fast, full cure. Cured properties include 425 psi tensile strength, 180 percent elongation, and a 500 V/mil dielectric strength, which supports both mechanical and electrical service.
