Description
CHT Group QSil 602 is an optically clear, two-part addition cure silicone elastomer for potting and encapsulating electronics. This grade is used when assemblies need transparent encapsulation, primer-assisted adhesion, and a heat-cure process to develop full properties.
QSil 602 Benefits
- Excellent optical clarity supports LEDs, sensors, and assemblies that must remain visible.
- Addition cure silicone chemistry gives a clean elastomeric encapsulant for electronics work.
- Low linear shrinkage helps protect sensitive components during cure.
- Adhesion to polycarbonate and acrylic is supported when the recommended primer system is used.
- Transparent and colorless A and B components simplify visual inspection during mixing and potting.
This material fits electronics builders that need a clear potting silicone rather than an opaque thermal compound. It is especially useful when the cured encapsulant must protect parts while letting light or inspection paths pass through.
Where QSil 602 Fits
- LED assemblies where optical clarity matters.
- Sensor and electronics encapsulation with transparent housings.
- Potting work involving glass, acrylic, or polycarbonate with primer evaluation.
- Prototype and production builds requiring addition cure silicone.
- Assemblies where heat cure is already part of the process window.
Surface Preparation And Use
Keep parts clean, dry, and free of silicone inhibitors before mixing. Confirm the primer recommendation for glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, or other plastics before committing production parts.
Mix the A and B components according to the current data sheet, avoid air entrapment, and use the listed heat-cure schedule. Run a small process test when component geometry, substrate, or cure oven conditions change.
Technical Details And Documentation
CHT product data lists QSil 602 as transparent and colorless, addition cure, with low linear shrinkage, excellent optical clarity, 320 percent elongation at break, and cure profiles of 60 minutes at 150 C or 120 minutes at 120 C. Review current manufacturer information from CHT before production use.
