Description
RP 500 cyanoacrylate is a medium-viscosity, general-purpose instant adhesive for joining a broad range of similar or dissimilar materials. Its 500 cP body provides more placement control than a very thin wicking grade while still spreading into close-fitting joints. The clear ethyl cyanoacrylate develops handling strength quickly for assembly, repair, and fixture work.
Where It Fits
This grade can be evaluated for metals, many plastics, rubber, and mixed-material components where a one-part adhesive helps shorten assembly time. The medium set gives operators a brief alignment window before the joint locks in place. It is useful for small housings, trim, pads, knobs, and production parts that benefit from a clean bond line without mixing equipment. Always verify compatibility on the actual substrate, especially with stress-sensitive plastics, porous surfaces, or materials that carry mold release, oil, or plating residue.
Application Guidance
Start with clean, dry surfaces and remove grease or particulate contamination. Apply a small amount to one surface, bring the components together, and maintain contact without movement while handling strength develops. Excess adhesive can slow the cure and leave a less controlled bond line, so use only enough to wet the joint. The product record identifies a handling-strength range of about 10 to 15 seconds and a full cure of eight hours under stated conditions. Temperature, humidity, material type, and gap can change those results.
