Description

SynthoGlass ESN-202-7IN Steel-Reinforced Epoxy Putty (previously sold as Syntho-Steel) is a two-part epoxy repair putty for sealing leaks and rebuilding corroded metal, pipe, and tank surfaces. It sets on wet surfaces, will not drip or sag, and is NSF61 and BS6920 compliant for contact with potable water.

SynthoGlass Steel-Reinforced Epoxy Putty Benefits

  • Sets in about 5 minutes at 75°F, so crews can return a line or fitting to service fast.
  • Cures on wet and underwater surfaces, useful for active low-pressure leaks where drying is not possible.
  • Non-drip, non-sag putty form holds on vertical and overhead repairs without running.
  • NSF61 and BS6920 compliant for drinking water contact, suitable for potable water lines and tanks.
  • Solvent-free, non-toxic, and 100 percent solids with no VOCs for confined-space work.
  • Bonds to metal, masonry, wood, ceramic, glass, and most plastics.
  • Resists hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols, esters, halocarbons, salt solutions, and dilute acids and bases once cured.

ESN-202-7IN is the steel reinforced epoxy putty crews reach for when a line has to stay in service and the surface cannot be fully dried before the repair.

Steel-Reinforced Epoxy Putty Applications

  • Sealing leaks in water and oil pipes, tanks, and fittings
  • Filling corrosion voids and pitted metal
  • Emergency and temporary repair of low-pressure lines
  • Force mains, gravity lines, and irregular pipe fittings
  • Joint and tee repairs
  • Underwater and splash-zone repairs

Surface Prep and Use

Remove loose rust, scale, and debris, and roughen the repair area where possible for the best mechanical bond. Cut or knead the required amount, mix the two parts by hand until a uniform color is reached, and press firmly onto the surface. Working time is roughly 5 minutes at 75°F, so mix only what can be applied in that window. Allow the patch to fully cure before returning the line to pressure.
