Description

SynthoGlass Standard Temp Compression Film is a blue polyethylene stretch film designed for use during engineered pipe repair installations to apply uniform compression while composite resin systems cure. Available in three roll sizes to match repair length and pipe diameter requirements.

SynthoGlass Standard Temp Compression Film Benefits

  • Maintains consistent radial compression throughout the cure cycle, reducing voids and ensuring full laminate consolidation
  • Perforable design allows easy removal post-cure or can be left in place for added protection on the finished repair
  • Compatible with all SynthoGlass standard-temperature repair kits and other major brands of composite pipe repair systems
  • Polyethylene film resists moisture and chemical contact during outdoor or plant-side installations
  • Three roll sizes — 5 in x 50 ft, 5 in x 200 ft, and 12 in x 700 ft — cover a range of repair lengths and pipe diameters
  • High flash point (>650°F) supports routine industrial use without special fire-safety precautions
  • Lightweight construction (specific gravity 0.91–0.97) with 2 mil gauge that wraps cleanly without bunching

Common Applications

  • Fiberglass and composite wrap installations on carbon steel, stainless, and plastic pipe at standard operating temperatures
  • Water-activated repair wrap installations where consistent pressure during moisture cure is required
  • Onshore pipeline rehabilitation using pre-impregnated wrap systems
  • Pipe reinforcement in oil and gas, petrochemical, and utility plant environments
  • Marine, power generation, and municipal utility pipe repair operations
  • Any composite repair job where operating temperature remains within standard limits and red high-temp film is not required

Surface Prep and Use

Apply the blue compression film directly over the curing repair laminate immediately after wrapping is complete. Wrap with steady tension to generate even radial compression — gaps or loose sections allow the composite to shift during cure. Anchor the start and finish with SynthoGlass silicone bonding tape to prevent unwinding on curved pipe or elbow geometry.

After full cure, perforate the film and remove, or score and leave in place. For repairs at elevated service temperatures or those requiring CS-NRI engineering review, specify the red high-temp compression film instead.
