Description

Adhesive that cures inside the mixing nozzle is money in the trash. Every purge, every stop in the run, and every nozzle you pull off the cartridge takes retained adhesive with it. On expensive epoxies and thermally conductive pastes it adds up fast.

The Xemex X2-C8-8L Low-Waste Static Mixer holds 4.3 mL of retained volume and replaces 32-element mixers using eight Xemex elements. The extra element over the 7-element versions buys mixing margin on harder-to-mix and high-ratio materials, and the 8.7 mm inner diameter handles mid to high viscosity without choking flow.

The luer-lock outlet threads on and locks dispensing needles and precision tips, which is what you want when a needle has to stay put under pressure. The standard 16.7 mm straight bell connection fits C-System cartridge and meter-mix dispensers, so it’s a direct swap without changing equipment.

The hydrophobic PETG insert supports moisture-sensitive formulations. Compatible with epoxies, methacrylates (MMA), urethanes, and silicones. Designed and manufactured in the United States.

The Xemex element geometry completes mixing in fewer elements, which shortens the mixer and cuts the amount of adhesive trapped inside it.

Patented Xemex Mixing Technology

Xemex static mixer internal element geometry showing striation count increasing through each mixing element
Xemex element geometry multiplies striations through each mixing element, reaching full mix in fewer elements than traditional designs.

Xemex inserts are additively manufactured, which allows internal geometry that conventional molded elements can’t produce. Each element multiplies the striation count, so eight Xemex elements do the work of 32 traditional square or helical elements in a much shorter body.

Performance in Production

  • Eight Xemex elements replace 32-element traditional mixers, the highest mixing margin in the C-system line.
  • 4.3 mL retained volume in a mixer that does the work of a much longer nozzle.
  • 8.7 mm inner diameter supports higher-flow work and mid to high viscosity materials.
  • Luer-lock outlet locks needles and precision tips on rather than relying on a friction fit.
  • Hydrophobic PETG insert supports moisture-sensitive adhesive systems.
  • Standard bell connection fits existing C-System cartridge and meter-mix hardware with no equipment change.

Installation and Handling

  • Fits standard 16.7 mm straight bell cartridge and meter-mix connections.
  • Thread the needle or precision tip onto the luer-lock outlet and turn until seated. Do not overtighten.
  • Purge a short bead before the first shot to confirm both sides are flowing.
  • Replace the mixer once adhesive begins curing inside the nozzle.
  • Leave the spent mixer on the cartridge between runs to seal it, then fit a fresh one for the next job.

Common Applications

  • Electronics. Potting and encapsulation where complete mixing prevents soft spots, including wearables and medical device assembly.
  • Transportation and aerospace. Structural bonding on production and repair work.
  • Industrial manufacturing. Gasketing and sealing with needle-tip bead control.
  • Robotic and meter-mix adhesive dispensing cells
  • High-ratio and harder-to-mix formulations where extra mixing margin matters

Waste Volume Comparison

Xemex static mixer retained volume compared against traditional helical and square element mixers

Retained volume is the adhesive left inside the mixer when you stop dispensing. It’s gone on every purge, every stop, and every changeover. Here’s what the X2-C8-8L holds against the mixers it commonly replaces.

Mixer Model Waste Volume
Medmix MCH 10-32T 19.00 mL
Medmix MCH 10-24T 14.60 mL
Nordson 160-824 (7700904) 11.00 mL
Nordson 160-632 (7700856) 9.00 mL
Medmix MCQ 08-32T 8.44 mL
Medmix MCQ 08-24T 7.28 mL
Xemex X2-C8-8L 4.3 mL

Fabricators and manufacturers commonly move to the X2-C8-8L from these models.

  • Medmix MCQ Series. 05-24L, 08-24T, 08-32T
  • Medmix MCH Series. 05-18T, 05-24T, 05-32T, 06-24T, 08-18T, 08-24T, 08-32T, 10-32T
  • Nordson 160 Series. 160-624, 160-632, 160-824

Confirm connection style and ratio against your cartridge before switching.

C-System Options

Four C-system mixers share the same 16.7 mm bell connection and 8.7 mm inner diameter. Pick element count first, then tip.

Part Elements Replaces Outlet Retained Volume
X2-C8-8L (this page) 8 32 elements Luer-Lock 4.3 mL
X2-C8-8S 8 32 elements Stepped 4.3 mL
X2-C8-7L 7 18 to 24 elements Luer-Lock 3.0 mL
X2-C8-7S 7 18 to 24 elements Stepped 2.9 mL

Eight elements or seven is a tradeoff. The 8-element mixers do the work of a 32-element traditional nozzle and give you margin on harder-to-mix or high-ratio materials. The 7-element mixers replace 18 to 24 element nozzles and hold less adhesive, which adds up on high-cost material run at volume. Luer-lock or stepped comes down to whether you are running needle tips or laying a bead.

Xemex Mixer Comparison

Match the mixer to the cartridge or meter-mix hardware you already run, then pick the tip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use the 8-element or the 7-element C-system mixer?

The 8-element X2-C8-8L replaces a 32-element traditional mixer. The 7-element versions replace 18 to 24 element mixers. Go with eight elements when the material is harder to mix, when you are running a high ratio like 10:1, or when you have had incomplete cure or soft spots with a shorter mixer. Go with seven when mixing has never been the problem and you want the lower retained volume, which is 2.9 to 3.0 mL against 4.3 mL here.

Can I attach a dispensing needle to the X2-C8-8L?

Yes. The luer-lock outlet threads on and locks standard luer-lock needles and precision tips. That’s the difference from the stepped-tip X2-C8-8S, which dispenses directly and trims back to set bead size but does not take a threaded needle.

What is the difference between the X2-C8-8L and the X2-C8-8S?

The outlet. Both run eight Xemex elements on the same 16.7 mm bell connection with an 8.7 mm inner diameter. The 8L has a luer-lock outlet for needles and precision tips and holds 4.3 mL. The 8S has a trimmable stepped tip for direct bead work and holds 3.4 mL.

Will the X2-C8-8L fit my cartridge?

It fits standard 16.7 mm straight bell connections on C-System cartridge and meter-mix dispensers. If your hardware uses a bayonet, threaded, or F-style outlet instead, use the matching Xemex connection style from the comparison table above.

Customer Feedback

“Xemex cured our mixing issues and reduced waste significantly. It worked better than the 48-element mixer we previously used.”
Electronics Manufacturer

“The new Xemex mixer worked fantastic with Dow 3-4207. Greatly reduces wasted potting material and also mixed the 2 parts very well. This is exactly what we needed.”
Direct Customer Quote

“My customer tested the Xemex mixer with an expensive thermally conductive paste. It was easy to see the cost savings from wasting less material in the mixer compared to the helical mixer they were previously using. They ordered 50 on the spot.”
