Holding full-face contact against the barrel wall through the stroke keeps bead width consistent from the first shot in a fresh barrel to the last.
How It Holds Up
Molded from thermoplastic rubber, the piston is rated to the 700 Series 100 psi (6.9 bar) ceiling and holds its seal at that pressure without rolling inside the barrel. Because the red straight wall piston resists compression set better than a soft wiper piston, it stays snug in the barrel through storage and intermittent bench use rather than only during continuous runs.
Installation Notes
Push the piston into the barrel opening until it sits flush, checking that it entered straight rather than cocked to one side, which is the most common cause of a trapped air pocket on the first shot. A light coat of the fluid being dispensed on the piston face helps the straight wall profile seat evenly against the bore. Keep unused pistons in their packaging until they go into a barrel to protect the sealing face from dust.
