Description

Alpatec 5663-20 silicone is a flowable, self leveling one part RTV silicone adhesive sealant with an acetoxy cure system. It bonds to metals, glass, ceramics, many plastics and wood. The black sealant cures at room temperature in the presence of atmospheric moisture and stays flexible over a wide service temperature range. Choose it where you need smooth surfaces, reliable sealing and long term weather resistance.

Alpatec 5663-20 silicone applications

Use this material for sealing and bonding glass panes to metal frames, sealing and coating conveyor belts and general industrial sealing where a flowable silicone is preferred. Do not use it on galvanised or other ferrous metals, copper or copper alloys, or in electronic assemblies.

Flowable RTV silicone processing

For best results, clean and dry all substrates before application. Degrease non porous surfaces such as metals and glass with a suitable cleaner. Apply the ready to use one part sealant from standard cartridges or bulk drums with manual or pneumatic equipment. Keep the sealant depth between 1 and 10 mm and allow joints to remain undisturbed during cure. Typical full cure takes about seven days for thin sections and up to fourteen days for thicker joints.

Storage, safety and support

Store unopened cartridges in their original packaging and use them within the stated twelve month shelf life. Consult the Safety Data Sheet and follow local regulations for handling and disposal.
