Description
This 50ml cartridge contains Chem-Set 605 in white, a toughened two-part methacrylate for structural bonding of engineered plastics, metals, and composites. The white pigment keeps the bond line from showing on white and light-colored substrates, where an unpigmented adhesive leaves a visible tan seam. Working time is 2 to 3 minutes with fixture in 8 to 10 minutes, which suits production work where parts move quickly. Requires a 50ml manual dispense gun and static mixers, both sold separately.

Substrates
- PVC, ABS, PPO, and polycarbonate
- Fiberglass, FRP, and gel coats
- Polyesters and vinyl esters
- Styrenics and acrylics
- Urethanes and RIM urethane
- Cured epoxy
- Wood
- Aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel, primer suggested
- Poorly prepared and as-received surfaces
Dispensing This Package
Load the cartridge into the gun without a mixer attached, open the tip, and burp the cartridge until both sides come out uniform. Attach the static mixer, purge a short bead onto scrap, then apply. With a 2 to 3 minute working time, have the parts ready before you dispense.
Surface Preparation
Solvent-wipe grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants. On metal, abrading or roughening the surface increases bond strength. On aluminum and stainless steel, a metal conditioner improves overlap shear by 30 to 40% and is worth the extra step on structural joints.
Working Notes
- Working time is 2 to 3 minutes. Position the part immediately after applying.
- White bond line on white and light-colored substrates where an unpigmented adhesive would show.
- Bond line thickness of 0.015 to 0.030 in gives optimum adhesion. Thicker is not stronger.
- Leave the parts undisturbed until fixture time is reached. Moving them in between costs bond strength.
- Cap the cartridge between uses and change the mixer. Material cures inside a used mixer.
- Non-sagging gel holds position on vertical and overhead bond lines.
- Intermittent exposure above 250°F does not reduce performance.
- Clean up before the adhesive cures. Cured material has to be scraped.
Common Applications
- Bonding white and light-colored solid surface, FRP, and gel coat
- Structural bonding of PVC, ABS, and polycarbonate where bond line appearance matters
- Bonding aluminum and stainless steel to plastics and composites
- Fiberglass and composite panel bonding on marine and transportation components
- Sign and display fabrication on acrylic and styrenic sheet
- Sanitary and architectural assemblies with visible seams
- Production assembly bonding on a fast cycle
- Exterior assemblies exposed to weathering or solvent contact
Common Questions
Why choose white over natural?
Bond line appearance. On white and light-colored substrates an unpigmented adhesive leaves a visible tan seam. The white pigment blends in.
What equipment do I need?
A 50ml manual dispense gun and static mixers, both sold separately. The cartridge does not hand mix.
What does Chem-Set 605 bond?
PVC, ABS, PPO, polycarbonate, fiberglass, FRP, gel coats, polyesters, vinyl esters, styrenics, acrylics, urethanes, cured epoxy, wood, and metals including aluminum and stainless steel.
How fast does it set?
Working time is 2 to 3 minutes at 72°F. Fixture is 8 to 10 minutes, functional cure is 45 minutes to 1 hour, and full cure is 24 hours.
Can I improve the bond on aluminum or stainless?
Yes. A metal conditioner applied before bonding improves overlap shear by 30 to 40%.
