Description
Chem-Set 633 is a two-part 5 Minute® epoxy gel for fast structural bonding where the adhesive has to stay where you put it. The thixotropic, non-migrating gel fills gaps to 0.250 in and does not sag or run on vertical and overhead surfaces. It mixes 1:1, reaches fixture in 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature, and cures to 2,500 psi lap shear. 100 percent solids with no solvent, so there is no shrinkage from evaporation. Available in a 25ml hand syringe and cartridges for gun dispensing.

Strong on oils and hydrocarbons. Not suited to service in polar solvents, alcohols, or acids and bases.
Surface Preparation
Solvent-wipe the surfaces to remove grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants. Industrial cleaning equipment such as vapor phase degreasers or hot aqueous baths also works. On metal, abrading or roughening the surface increases microscopic bond area and bond strength.
Mixing and Dispensing
25ml hand syringe
Squeeze material into a small container. Using the mixing stick on the syringe handle, mix vigorously for one full minute, then apply immediately.
Cartridges
Attach the cartridge to the matching manual or pneumatic dispensing system. Open the tip and burp the cartridge until both sides come out uniform, which keeps air out of the mix. Attach the mixing nozzle and apply.
Working Notes
- Apply mixed epoxy to one surface as an even film or a bead, then assemble within the working time.
- Apply firm pressure between the parts. A small fillet squeezing out the edges confirms adequate gap fill.
- For very large gaps, apply to both surfaces and either cover the full area or lay a bead pattern so material flows through the joint.
- Non-sagging gel holds position on vertical and overhead bond lines, which is the main reason to choose the gel over a flowing epoxy.
- Working time is 4 to 7 minutes and the one minute hand mix falls inside that window, not before it. Have parts prepped before mixing.
- Let assemblies stand for the functional cure time before handling.
- 100 percent solids means no shrinkage from solvent evaporation, useful on gap-filled joints.
- Withstands processing forces once cured. Do not drop, shock load, or heavily load.
