Description
Chem-Set accelerator Speed Tac II is a clear, acetone-based activator that speeds the cure of cyanoacrylate adhesives on porous materials, acidic surfaces, exposed bond lines, and low-humidity jobs. The compact 2 oz pump bottle is easy to carry in a repair kit or service case, and it is the same package format used with selected Chem-Set stone chip repair systems. It supports controlled application without an aerosol can. The pump format is also useful when the operator needs a small treatment area and wants to keep overspray away from adjacent finished surfaces, hardware, or masking. Keep extra mixers, wipes, masking materials, and suitable protective gloves close by.
Where Chem-Set Accelerator Helps CA Adhesives Cure
Cyanoacrylate cure depends on surface chemistry and available moisture. Wood, fabric, foam, stone, and other porous substrates can absorb adhesive or cure unevenly, while acidic surfaces may slow the reaction. A light application of Speed Tac II helps initiate or complete cure so a repair can be handled sooner. Common work includes granite and hard-surface chip repair, wire tacking, small field repairs, silk-screen assembly, and bonding porous materials with an appropriate CA viscosity.
The product can be applied before assembly to one mating surface or used after placement on an exposed adhesive edge when the chosen process permits it. Keep the spray controlled and avoid soaking the area. Too much accelerator can generate excess heat, reduce cosmetic quality, or discolor some light-colored granite. For pale or appearance-critical stone, test first and consider a low-bloom accelerator designed for that finish. Confirm substrate compatibility before using it on sensitive plastics, coatings, or foam.
How Chem-Set Accelerator Is Applied
Prepare the work by removing dust, oil, polish, and loose material. Fit the CA adhesive to the joint size and substrate porosity, then decide whether the activator will be placed before bonding or after the parts are assembled. Hold the pump at a consistent distance and apply a fine, even mist only where it is needed. Allow carrier solvent to flash as directed, dispense the adhesive, join the parts promptly, and maintain alignment until handling strength develops.
Store the bottle closed, away from heat, sparks, flame, and incompatible materials. Use appropriate ventilation and personal protective equipment, and follow the current safety data sheet. Do not spray toward the face or use near an ignition source. The small package is convenient for field use, but the same handling discipline applies as with a larger container. Keep accelerator and adhesive applicators separate to prevent contamination at the nozzle or bottle opening.
