Description

This IM1900XT foam tape is the 1 inch width of the Mactac Macmount XT line, 216 feet to a roll. A 1/32 inch white crosslinked PE foam carrier takes high tack XT rubber adhesive at 1.8 mils per side, for 34.85 mils of total caliper, under an 83# white SCK liner. A full inch of bond width is what a heavy part, a rough substrate, or a long panel run calls for.

Where the IM1900XT foam tape fits

One inch is the general assembly width. It bonds insulation board and foam to sheet metal, mounts mirrors and glass panels, sets acrylic and PVC panels into displays, holds dispensers and appliance trim, anchors screw pads and standoffs, and fills the void under a panel that does not sit flat. Larger point of purchase and trade show fixtures get built with it because a wider strip spreads peel load over more area and resists the corner lift that starts most mounting failures. Insulation and duct panel work runs it in continuous strips rather than tabs, since a full inch carries the weight of a board without a mechanical clip to back it up. Sound and vibration damping behind equipment covers and duct panels is the other steady use.

How the IM1900XT foam tape performs

Both faces carry the same XT rubber adhesive, tuned for tack on contact plus the shear strength to hold a static load past 500 hours before failure. Apply at 50F or warmer, then the joint serves from 0F to 180F. Adhesion holds on low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, on primed wood, paper, painted metal, and bare metal, and on firm foam, rubber, and flexible magnet stock. The crosslinked foam compresses into surface texture and recovers enough to keep both adhesive layers loaded, and the 83# white SCK liner stays intact through rotary die cutting and hand application alike. The adhesive is permanent on both faces, so position the part before the liner is fully removed. Once it has been rolled down, lifting it back off tears the foam instead of releasing the bond.

Clean and dry both faces before the liner comes off, then set the part and roll the whole length down so the adhesive seats into the surface. Drop to the 3/4 inch width when the return is shallow, or step up to 1/16 inch or 1/8 inch foam when the gap is wider than the carrier can close. The double sided foam tape range covers those thicknesses, and Mactac carries the rest of the Macmount XT constructions.
