Mactac IM1900XT Double Coated Foam Tape (Macmount XT)

Description

Macmount XT foam tape is the general purpose double coated mounting tape in the Mactac engineered tape line, built around a high tack XT rubber adhesive coated 1.8 mils onto each side of a 1/32 inch white crosslinked PE foam carrier. Combined carrier and adhesive caliper is 34.85 mils, the liner is 83# white SCK, and both widths run 216 feet per roll. The 3/4 inch width suits narrow returns and trim. The 1 inch width puts more footprint on the bond line.

Where Macmount XT foam tape gets used

This is the workhorse grade for shop assembly and field mounting. Point of purchase and trade show displays, sign returns, insulation bonding, foam to foam mounting, screw anchor pads, mirror mounting, dispenser mounting, appliance trim, and gap filling all fall inside its range. The XT adhesive bonds to primed wood, paper, painted metal, and plastics, and it holds on low surface energy substrates such as polyethylene and polypropylene that shrug off standard acrylics. It also grabs firm foam, rubber, and flexible magnet stock, which is why display shops keep a roll on the bench instead of switching adhesives between jobs. Insulation and HVAC panel work leans on the same combination, where the tape holds the board and cuts transmitted noise at the same time. Noise and vibration damping comes with the foam carrier.

How Macmount XT foam tape holds up

Under static load the bond runs past 500 hours before shear failure. Apply at 50F or warmer, then expect service from 0F to 180F, which covers conditioned interiors along with unconditioned warehouse and garage space. The crosslinked foam compresses to fill a gap and conform to a curved or irregular face, then recovers enough to keep pressure on both adhesive layers. The 83# white SCK liner is heavy enough to feed a rotary die cleanly, so converters get square pads and clean kiss cuts without liner breaks. Hand handling is straightforward too, since the liner stays flat and peels in one piece off a 216 foot roll. Made in the USA.

Macmount XT widths and construction

Both widths are slit from the same 60 inch master roll. When a job needs more cushion, the same XT adhesive is coated on 1/16 inch and 1/8 inch foam, and on black crosslinked PE foam where the bond line has to disappear behind a dark panel.
