Description
Parson Partite 7420 is a two-component, 100% reactive toughened methacrylate structural adhesive. It bonds metals, thermoplastics, thermosets, and composite assemblies with no abrasion or priming required. The non-sag 10:1 formulation fills gaps up to 0.375 in and holds position in vertical and overhead joints. Working time runs 4 to 6 minutes with fixture time at 15 to 18 minutes, and the product carries UL 879 certification.

Performance in Production
- Non-sag consistency holds the bead in vertical and overhead joints without running onto finished surfaces.
- Fills bond gaps up to 0.375 in, so it works on parts with looser fit-up and fabricated tolerances.
- No abrasion or priming required. Surfaces still need to be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease, and light abrasion immediately before bonding gives the best result.
- Fixture in 15 to 18 minutes at room temperature. Parts reach roughly 80 percent of full strength at 2 to 3 times the fixture time.
- Ambient temperature drives cure speed. Cooler shop conditions extend both working and fixture times, and 25 C is the recommended operating temperature.
- Lap shear increases at low temperature and drops at elevated temperature, with cohesive failure across the tested range.
- 30 days of environmental cycling (-30 C, 85 C, and 30 C at 100 percent RH) did not reduce lap shear on stainless steel.
- Low exotherm during cure. Masses over 1/2 in thick can still exceed 250 F and should be handled in a ventilated area.
- Dispense from cartridges with a 10:1 manual or pneumatic gun and a static mixer, or through meter-mix equipment. On meter-mix systems, keep wetted metal to stainless steel or aluminum and keep the adhesive away from copper, zinc, and brass. Use Teflon or UHMW seals and gaskets.
- Purge a short shot at start-up and confirm the material coming off the mixer tip is uniform and correctly colored before bonding parts.
- Clean uncured material off equipment with industrial solvent before it sets. Cured adhesive requires soaking in strong solvent or paint remover.
- Store between 55 F and 75 F. Refrigeration at 45 F to 55 F extends shelf life. Do not freeze, and keep activator below 100 F to protect reactivity.
