Description
Q5000 contact adhesive is a high strength, high temperature spray adhesive for permanent bonds on wood, particle board, plywood, FRP board, plastics, fiberglass insulation, and related shop materials. The product data sheet lists high solids, high shear strength, fast tack, water resistance, and heat resistance for contact bonding work.
Q5000 contact adhesive Benefits
- Fast tack helps crews place panels and insulation without long open bench time.
- High solids spray pattern supports coverage on porous and semi-porous substrates.
- Water-resistant bond performance fits shop work where humidity or light exposure may matter.
- High temperature resistance helps bonded assemblies stay stable in warmer service areas.
- 13 oz aerosol can works well for small jobs, repair work, and field touchups.
Use this adhesive when both parts can be coated and pressed together as a contact bond. It is a better fit for laminating and panel work than for thick structural gaps or joints that need repositioning after pressure is applied.
Where Q5000 contact adhesive Fits
- Wood, particle board, and plywood bonding in cabinetry or fixture work.
- FRP board and plastic panel attachment.
- Fiberglass insulation bonding in shop or field assemblies.
- Sign, display, and general fabrication tasks using spray contact adhesive.
- Small permanent-bond repairs where a canister system is more than the job needs.
Surface Preparation and Use
Dry fit panels before spraying. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, release agents, and loose fibers. Shake the aerosol as directed, spray an even coat, and allow the film to become tacky before mating the parts. For stronger contact bonds, coat both surfaces when the work allows it.
Press the full bond area with firm, even pressure. Edge lift often starts where pressure was light or coverage was uneven. Test heat exposure, substrate staining, and spray pattern on scrap before approving a visible production part.
Technical Details and Documentation
CyCan product data describes Q5000 as a permanent-bond contact adhesive with high shear, fast tack, high solids, water-resistant bond performance, and high temperature resistance. Because Quality Aerosols is not on the current outbound homepage allowlist, this page uses the Adhesive and Sealant Council as the external reference.
