Description
Most adhesive-mount studs on the market use a perforated base, holes that let excess adhesive squeeze through the bottom during installation, which wastes adhesive and leaves a messier bond. The Specialinsert Master-Plate M1Y line skips that design. Each stud sits on a solid base with round spacer feet, Specialinsert’s literature calls this ATC (Adhesive Thickness Control), that set the bondline thickness on contact and keep the adhesive contained under the part instead of spilling out the sides. The threaded post gives you a male mounting point for bolting on hardware, brackets, or panels after the bond cures, with no welding or drilling into the substrate. The M1Y family covers four base shapes and two stud lengths so you can match the footprint and reach to your application before you order.
- BETTER PERFORMANCE – Lab testing recorded a 26.9% increase in pull-out strength and a 48.5% increase in shear strength versus a standard perforated base of the same size.
- BETTER AESTHETIC – No perforations means no adhesive squeeze-out around the base, so installs come out clean without extra wipe-down.
- COST REDUCTION – The RS base uses about 72% less adhesive per piece than a standard perforated base of the same size, since the round spacer feet meter the adhesive instead of letting it bleed through holes.
Lab Test Results: RS Base vs. Standard Perforated Base
| Test | Standard Base (avg) | Master-Plate RS (avg) | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tensile / Pull-Out | 3783 N (851 lbs) | 4802 N (1080 lbs) | 26.9% |
| Shear | 6390 N (1437 lbs) | 9486 N (2134 lbs) | 48.5% |
Adhesive Use: RS Base vs. Standard Perforated Base
| Base Style | Adhesive per Piece | Pieces per 50ml Cartridge | Avg. Cost per Bond* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard perforated base | 2.32 g | 21 | $0.38 |
| Master-Plate RS | 0.65 g | 75 | $0.10 |
*Based on an $8.00 50ml adhesive cartridge, per Specialinsert lab testing. Actual cost depends on the adhesive you use.

Common Applications
- Threaded mounting points for bolting on brackets, panels, or hardware after bonding to metal, plastic, composite, or stone surfaces
- Jobs where a perforated-base stud would leave visible glue squeeze-out and a cleaner finish matters
- Blind-mount or embedded applications where drilling or welding into the substrate isn’t practical
- Standoffs and attachment points in sign, display, and panel assembly
