Description

The ME 08-24T static mixer is a disposable 24-element helical machine mixer from Medmix Mixpac, formerly sold under the Sulzer Mixpac name, for meter mix dispensing (MMD) equipment. It seats on the valve through the 15.9 mm ME bell inlet and runs inside a safety shroud. The A and B components blend through the blue POM elements on their way to the stepped tip, and the mixer gets tossed at changeover instead of cleaned. The 8 mm bore sits mid-range in the Medmix Mixpac ME Series, between the 5 and 6.4 mm mixers and the 10 and 13 mm mixers.

Performance in Production

  • Medmix notes that bore diameter sets flow resistance and shear rate. The 8 mm bore is the middle of the ME range, so match it to the bore your valve and material were set up around.
  • 8.2 mL stays in the mixer at each change. Plan purge and changeover around that figure, especially on costly materials.
  • 24 helical elements split the stream into 2 to the 24th power layers, roughly 16.8 million, using the layering formula medmix publishes for these mixers.
  • Blue polyacetal (POM) elements are used on machine mixers for higher pressure resistance and longer operation at elevated temperatures.
  • At 8.78 in overall, check the clearance between the valve, the shroud, and the part before you swap this in for a shorter mixer.
  • The 2.4 mm stepped tip lays a wider bead than the 5 and 6.4 mm ME mixers. The LA 06-08 adapter lets you run Luer needle tips.
  • The disposable format takes mixer cleaning out of the changeover. Always run it inside the safety shroud, which keeps the housing from expanding under machine pressure.

Common Applications

  • Meter mix dispensing of two-component adhesives and sealants on semi-automatic and automatic MMD equipment
  • Valves and shrouds set up for the 15.9 mm ME bell inlet
  • Production lines specified for an 8 mm, 24-element machine mixer
  • Precision dispensing through Luer needle tips with the LA 06-08 adapter
  • High and low viscosity two-component materials

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ME 08-24T static mixer used for?

The ME 08-24T mixes two-component adhesives and sealants on meter mix dispensing equipment that takes ME bell inlet mixers. Medmix rates the ME and MS line for both high and low viscosity materials. We sell it by the each, so you don’t have to buy a full medmix box of 1,500.

Is the ME 08-24T interchangeable with the MS 08-24T?

Not as a straight swap. The two share the same 8.0 mm bore, 24 elements, 223 mm length, and 2.4 mm outlet on the Sulzer data sheet, but the bell inlet differs: 15.9 mm I.D. on ME, 16.7 mm on MS. Medmix lists an AD 17-16 adapter ring for MS to ME conversion. Call us with your valve and shroud model before you switch.

Can I use an ME 08-24T in place of a 5 mm ME mixer?

Only after checking fit. The ME 08-24T is about 2.9 in longer than the ME 05-24T, leaves 8.2 mL in the mixer versus 2.3 mL, and has a wider tip, so both the bead and the purge waste change. It also needs a shroud that matches this mixer. Send us your valve and shroud details and we’ll confirm before it ships.

What does the part number ME 08-24T mean?

ME is the Mixpac machine mixer series with blue elements and the 15.9 mm bell inlet. 08 is the 8 mm bore, 24 is the number of mixing elements, and T is the stepped tip outlet. The same bore also comes as the ME 08-32T with 32 elements, listed on the ME Series page.

Is the Sulzer ME 08-24T the same as the medmix Mixpac ME 08-24T?

Yes, it’s the same designation. The ME series was published under the Sulzer Mixpac name and is now published by medmix under the same MIXPAC brand and part number. If your purchase order or spec sheet says Sulzer ME 08-24T, this is the part to quote.

Does the ME 08-24T need a shroud?

Yes. Medmix states that ME and MS mixers must run in a safety shroud at all times. The shroud keeps the mixer housing from expanding under machine pressure and holds the tip in line with the part. Call us and we’ll match the shroud to your setup.
