Description
The Integra RD50 rodding bonder is a two-component cartridge material for embedding steel or fiberglass reinforcing rods in granite, quartz, engineered stone, and other countertop materials. This 500 mL package includes four mixing tips, giving fabrication shops a matched format for preparing reinforced cutouts, sink rails, and long countertop sections before handling or installation.
Reinforcement Work in the Fabrication Shop
Rodding helps strengthen stone around sink openings, cooktop cutouts, narrow rails, and other areas where the remaining material can be vulnerable during transport or installation. Cut the reinforcement channel to the project specification, remove dust and loose debris, and dry-fit the rod before dispensing. Steel flat bar, rectangular rod, round rod, and fiberglass flat stock are identified as compatible reinforcement options in the product documentation.
The dual-component cartridge meters the two parts through a disposable mixer. Before filling the channel, level the cartridge outlets and dispense a small purge through a fresh tip so both components enter the mixer evenly. Place the mixed material into the prepared channel, seat the reinforcement, and finish the surface as required by the fabrication plan. Working and fixture times vary with shop temperature, so crews should stage the rod and tools before starting a cartridge.
