Choosing the 20 Gram Over the 1 lb

• This is the size to buy first. RX chemistry is specified to solve a specific bonding failure, so prove it on the actual part before you commit to bulk.
• Sold in case quantity of 10, so it also suits putting a bottle at several stations or in a service kit rather than a single-bottle purchase.
• The 1 lb holds 453 g, about 23 times as much, and works as a bulk container you draw from rather than carry around.
• Cyanoacrylate cure is driven by moisture, and humidity in the headspace of a partly used bottle works against you over time. Buy the size your shop finishes.
• If a 20 gram lasts a station a month or more, stay here. If you’re going through a bottle a week, the 1 lb is the move.

• Bonds through silicone greases, oils, and release agents, and onto plated parts, which is why you’d choose this over a general purpose grade.

• Same 80 to 120 cP and .005 in gap as E-100, so switching a problem part to RX-100 needs no change to joint design or dispensing.

• Fixture in 1 to 5 minutes, 80% of strength in 15 to 30 minutes.
• At 80 to 120 cP it flows. It will run on a vertical or overhead face before it sets, so hold the part flat or clamp it.
• Clean the parts anyway. This buys margin on a difficult surface, it does not remove the value of prep.

How much is in a 20 gram bottle of Pacer RX-100?

Net weight is 0.70 oz (20 g). Pacer’s guidance is that one free-falling drop covers roughly one square inch of bond area, so on small parts a 20 gram bottle covers a lot of joints. Pacer does not publish a drop count per bottle.

Why won’t regular super glue stick to my parts?

Usually the surface, not the adhesive. Oily and greasy films, silicone lubricants, mold release, plating, and acidic surface treatments all block or slow cyanoacrylate cure. The tell is inconsistency: a standard grade bonds some parts and not others. RX-100 is formulated to cure on those surfaces at the same 80 to 120 cP viscosity as a general purpose grade.

Does Pacer RX-100 bond EPDM rubber?

Yes. In ASTM D-1002 testing RX-100 gives substrate failure on EPDM, meaning the rubber tears before the bond does, and SBR is the same. Pacer’s general purpose E Series grades reach only 100 psi on EPDM. If you bond EPDM gaskets, seals, or trim, this is the family to specify.

Is the 20 gram the same adhesive as the 1 lb?

Yes, identical. Same non-surface-sensitive chemistry, same 80 to 120 cP viscosity, same .005 in gap capability, same MIL-A-46050C Type II, Class 2 rating. Only the container and the order quantity change.

Will Pacer RX-100 run on a vertical surface?

Yes. At 80 to 120 cP this is a flowing liquid and it will run down a vertical or overhead face before it cures. Hold the part flat or clamp it. If the part cannot be reoriented, the RX Gel is rated by Pacer as a non-sag, non-running formula for vertical applications.

How should Pacer RX-100 be stored, and what is the shelf life?

Refrigerate unopened bottles for optimal results. Once opened, store in a cool, dry location away from heat sources. Stored that way, expect a one year shelf life.
