Description
Shin-Etsu CAT22251-35 is a 35 Shore A mold catalyst that pairs with the SES22251 base resin to form a two-part, addition-cure moldmaking silicone. It is sold separately from the base so a shop can stock one SES22251 drum and blend it against any of four catalyst grades (20, 30, 35, or 40 Shore A) depending on the durometer a given mold requires.
Using the Shin-Etsu 35 Shore A Mold Catalyst
Weigh SES22251 base and CAT22251-35 catalyst separately, then combine at a 100:10 ratio by weight and mix until the color is uniform throughout. The mixed system carries a 90 minute working time at 23 degrees C, enough time to pour a detailed pattern or brush a mold coat before the silicone begins to set. Full cure is reached in 24 hours at 23 degrees C. CAT22251-35 combines a stiffer 35 Shore A cure with the highest tear strength in the catalyst family, which is why shops often select it for molds with undercuts, where resistance to tearing during demold matters most.
