Description
VST 7863 High Bond tape is a 63 mil, double-coated acrylic foam tape built for joining many low-surface-energy and coated materials. Its conformable foam core follows minor surface variation while the acrylic adhesive develops contact across the bond line. The 33 meter roll format supports production assembly, sign fabrication, transportation work, and other applications that need a clean attachment without visible mechanical fasteners.
Where VST 7863 High Bond Works
This tape is suited to polypropylene, polyethylene, HDPE, powder coatings, plastics, coated glass, ceramics, and silicone surfaces when the application has been checked for adhesion. The thicker foam construction helps bridge small gaps and irregularities between mating parts. It can also distribute stress along a continuous bond line, which is useful for trim, panels, plaques, signs, and fabricated assemblies.
Surface Preparation and Application
- Confirm that both materials are compatible with an acrylic foam tape system.
- Remove dust, oil, release agents, and loose coatings from the bond area.
- Apply the tape to one surface without stretching it or touching the adhesive.
- Use firm, even pressure to establish full adhesive contact.
- Align the second part carefully before removing the liner and completing the bond.
- Allow the adhesive system time to build strength before loading the assembly.
Product Details
- Construction: double-coated acrylic foam tape
- Nominal thickness: 0.063 inch (1.6 mm)
- Roll length: 33 meters
- Core behavior: conformable for minor surface variation
- Liner: red polyethylene film
- Available appearance: white, black, or gray configurations
- Primary use: permanent mounting and assembly
Adhesion depends on the exact substrate, coating, surface energy, cleanliness, pressure, temperature, and service load. Test the complete material stack under expected conditions before releasing a production process. Avoid assuming that two parts with similar names or finishes will bond the same way.
