This 1 lb (453 g) bottle of Pacer PX-50 is the production volume size of Pacer’s ethyl propyl cyanoacrylate, 30 to 80 cP with .004 in gap fill. It’s the size for a moulding or assembly line bonding plastic every day. PX is the only Pacer cyanoacrylate family built on ethyl propyl rather than ethyl or ethyl hybrid, and on ABS and rigid PVC it gives substrate failure, meaning the plastic breaks before the bond. At 453 g it holds about 23 times what the 20 gram bottle does, and it sells individually rather than by the case.

Choosing the 1 lb Over the 20 Gram

  • 453 g against 20 g, about 23 times the material, and it sells individually rather than in a case of 10.
  • Prove the bond first. Moulded plastic varies with release agent and regrind content, so run the 20 gram on parts from real production before you buy a pound.
  • This is a bulk container, not a bench bottle. Most shops decant into applicator bottles or charge a dispensing system from it.
  • Refrigeration matters more at this size. A cold 1 lb bottle takes real time to reach room temperature, and opening it early pulls condensation into a lot of material at once.
  • Shelf life is one year stored per the data sheet, and an opened container works against ambient humidity from day one.
  • Worth knowing across the family: PX-50 and PX-500 are both available in a 1 lb, so you can standardize either grade at volume.

  • Fixture in 1 to 5 minutes and 80% of strength in 15 to 30 minutes, which keeps a bonding station moving inside one takt.
  • Elongation under 2%. Rigid bond, so design the joint for shear rather than peel or flex.
  • Decant only what gets used in a shift and keep transfer containers dry and capped. Cure rate tracks relative humidity.
  • Still a low viscosity liquid with no published sag figure. Build the station around a horizontal or fixtured joint.

Should I standardize a line on Pacer PX-50?

Only if the line is genuinely plastic work. On ABS and PVC it is the right chemistry and gives substrate failure. But at 1000 psi on aluminum it is the weakest grade in the Pacer line on light alloy, so a mixed line running some plastic-to-aluminum joints will get a much weaker bond on those. If your line is mixed, talk to us before standardizing, because two grades may be cheaper than one bad joint.

Can I decant Pacer PX-50 into smaller applicator bottles?

Shops do it routinely with bulk CA, and Pacer’s published guidance does not cover decanting, so treat it as shop practice rather than a manufacturer instruction. Keep transfer containers clean, dry, and capped, and move only what gets consumed in a shift, since cure rate depends on relative humidity. If you need Pacer’s formal position on repackaging for a quality system, we’ll ask them.

How should Pacer PX-50 be stored, and what is the shelf life?

Refrigerate unopened bottles at 40F (4C) for optimum results, then let the adhesive come up to room temperature before opening. A 1 lb bottle takes longer to warm through, so give it time. Once opened, store in a cool, dry location. Stored that way, expect a one year shelf life.
