Description
ASI 5900 is a one-part, moisture-cure hybrid adhesive built on silyl-terminated polyether technology. It develops immediate green strength to fixture substrates in place while it cures, which reduces or eliminates braces, clamps, screws, and fasteners during assembly. It is 100% solids, free of solvents and isocyanates, and will not shrink during cure.
ASI 5900 bonds to wet substrates, cures in the presence of moisture, and will not wash off with rain. It stays consistent to dispense and tool from 0 degrees F to 150 degrees F, which makes it practical in cold shops and hot field conditions alike. Available in 10.2 oz cartridges and 20 oz sausage packs.

ASI 5900 skins in 10 minutes at 70 degrees F and develops green strength immediately, so panels grab and hold in position quickly. The non-slump formulation keeps the bead in place on vertical and overhead surfaces, and the material stays flexible after cure to absorb movement and vibration between the panel and the framing or substrate behind it.
It also fits the enclosed-space problem. ASI 5900 contains no solvents, no isocyanates, and no acetoxy chemistry, so there is no acetic acid off-gassing and no vinegar odor during cure. That matters in a bathroom, shower surround, or any confined install where ventilation is limited and metal framing or fixtures are nearby.

- Priming is not normally required. Test unprimed adhesion with a small trial bead and allow 7 days.
- Clean wet adhesive with ASI 0240 Adhesive Remover and Cleaner. Cured material is removed by abrading or scraping.
- Do not use on polyethylene, polypropylene, or TPO without testing first. Test all paints before application.
- Allow treated wood and asphalt to cure 6 months before application. Long-term water submersion can cause loss of adhesion on some substrates.

It contains no acetoxy chemistry, so it does not release acetic acid or give off the vinegar odor associated with acetoxy RTV silicones during cure. It is also paintable, which most silicones are not, though all paints should be tested before application.
Should I use ASI 5900 or ASI 6900?
Use ASI 5900 for bonding countertops to cabinets and for shower, wall, and large format panel work. Use ASI 6900 for undermount sink installation, where it can replace epoxy and clips. ASI 6900 has almost three times the green strength of ASI 5900, which is what makes it suitable for hanging a sink under a slab.
How long until ASI 5900 reaches full strength?
Strength begins developing immediately and continues to build for 7 days after application. ASI recommends testing strength and adhesion on the seventh day. Cure in-depth after 7 days is 13mm at 70 degrees F and 50% RH. Lower temperature and lower humidity slow both skin and cure times.
Will ASI 5900 bond to plastic?
It bonds to PVC and a range of other plastics, along with fiberglass, EPS and Styrofoam insulation, and EPDM. Do not use it on olefins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or TPO without testing first.
What is the shelf life?
Cartridges have a 12 month shelf life from date of shipment when stored at 70 degrees F and 50% RH. Pails and drums are 6 months. High temperature and high humidity in storage will significantly reduce shelf life.
