When This Is the Right Bottle

• Your parts fit badly and the surface is difficult. .010 in of gap plus non-surface-sensitive chemistry is a narrow combination and this is the liquid grade that has both.
• Your job calls out MIL-A-46050C or A-A-3097 Type II, Class 3. This is the thickest Range Extended grade Pacer certifies, since the gel is not MIL certified.
• Sold in case quantity of 10, which suits stocking several stations or a service fleet rather than a single-bottle purchase.
• This is the only size in RX-700. If you need Range Extended chemistry at production volume, RX-500 in the 1 lb is the closest bulk option at .008 in gap and the same Class 3 rating.
• If your parts are clean and you just need the gap, E-1500 is the general purpose Class 3 grade at the same .010 in. Don’t pay for surface tolerance you don’t need.
• Cyanoacrylate cure is driven by moisture and an opened bottle works against ambient humidity from day one. Shelf life is one year stored per the data sheet.

Performance in Production

• Dispenses straight from the bottle. No gun, no mixer, and small enough to take to the part.
• .010 in gap capability, the widest of the RX liquids and double RX-100, which covers parts that do not mate cleanly at all.
• Bonds through silicone greases, oils, and release agents, and onto plated parts, which is why you’d choose this over a general purpose grade.
• Substrate failure on ABS, rigid PVC, nylon, polycarbonate, SBR, and EPDM. On all six the part fails before the bond does.
• 2300 psi on steel, the same as every liquid RX grade, so the widest gap in the liquid range costs nothing in strength.
• Fixture in 1 to 5 minutes, 80% of strength in 15 to 30 minutes, though a filled .010 in gap cures from the outside in so allow the longer end before loading.
• A Pacer accelerator is worth having at hand at this gap. Pacer recommends accelerators specifically to speed cure through larger gaps, at the cost of possible white frosting and some loss of cure strength.
• At 600 to 800 cP it moves slowly but it is not a gel and Pacer publishes no sag figure. Hold the part flat or clamp it.
• Clean the parts anyway. This buys margin on a difficult surface, it does not remove the value of prep.
• Keep the tip clean and the cap on. A CA bottle that clogs is almost always a bottle that sat open.

Does Pacer RX-700 meet MIL-A-46050C?

Yes, at Type II, Class 3, and it also meets A-A-3097 Type II, Class 3. It is the thickest Range Extended grade Pacer certifies to the MIL spec, since the RX Gel carries A-A-3097 Class 5 only. Ask for the certificate of conformance when you place the order.

How much gap will Pacer RX-700 fill?

Typical gap capability is .010 in, the widest of the RX liquid grades and double RX-100. The RX Gel allows .020 in if you need more. Adding extra adhesive does not bridge a wider gap, it leaves an uncured core in the middle of the bond line.

Why won’t regular super glue stick to my parts?

Usually the surface, not the adhesive. Oily and greasy films, silicone lubricants, mold release, plating, and acidic surface treatments all block or slow cyanoacrylate cure. The tell is inconsistency: a standard grade bonds some parts from a batch and not others. If instead it cures at the edges and stays wet in the middle, that’s a gap problem, and RX-700’s .010 in capability is double a medium viscosity grade.

Does Pacer RX-700 bond EPDM rubber?

Yes. In ASTM D-1002 testing RX-700 gives substrate failure on EPDM, meaning the rubber tears before the bond does, and SBR is the same. Pacer’s general purpose E Series grades reach only 100 psi on EPDM. With .010 in of gap capability it also suits rubber parts that do not sit flat against the mating surface.

Will Pacer RX-700 run on a vertical surface?

Slower than a thin grade, but it is not rated for vertical use. At 600 to 800 cP it moves slowly and Pacer publishes no sag figure for it. Hold the part flat or clamp it. If the part cannot be reoriented, the RX Gel is the only grade Pacer rates as non-sag and non-running.
