Mactac

Mactac

Mactac manufactures pressure sensitive tapes and adhesive laminates under its Engineered Tapes and Laminates line, built around both rubber and acrylic adhesive systems rather than one chemistry. Chemical Concepts stocks the Mactac industrial range for sign and display fabrication, panel and cladding assembly, appliance and white goods production, gasket and foam converting, and transportation and RV interiors.

The Macbond Ultra 555 series pairs the MP555 rubber adhesive with foam and film carriers for mounting work that has to hold on low surface energy substrates, including IM1763 on 1/32 inch white PE foam for interior signage, acoustic panel, and mirror mounting. Macbond XT double coated films (IB1178XT clear, IB1444XT opaque white) carry a PET or polypropylene core for parts that need dimensional stability through die cutting. Macfilm IF4042 is an unsupported 2.0 mil HSA440 high tack acrylic, used where the bond line has to disappear on nameplates and printed graphics. GS Rivet Tapes run a solvent free rubber adhesive from 5 mil to 50 mil behind a dry edge liner, sized to replace mechanical fasteners on panel assemblies.

Mactac is Morgan Adhesives Company, headquartered in Stow, Ohio, with five ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing sites in the United States and membership in the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council and the Gasket Fabricators Association.

Our team specifies these tapes by substrate pair and coat weight rather than by part number, and we send samples before a customer commits a production run. Volume pricing starts at two rolls on most Mactac items.

Key Features by Product Family

  • Macbond Ultra 555 (IM1763, IM1863) MP555 rubber adhesive on white PE foam, 1/32 inch on IM1763 and 1/16 inch on IM1863. High tack with cohesive strength, holds on low surface energy materials and zero VOC painted drywall. Crosses 3M 4032.
  • Macmount XT (IM1900XT) High tack XT rubber adhesive on a 1/32 inch crosslinked PE foam carrier. 500 plus hours to shear failure, conformable for uneven surfaces and gap fill.
  • Macbond XT film (IB1178XT, IB1444XT) 0.5 mil clear PET or 2.6 mil opaque white carrier with aggressive rubber on both faces. Die cuts and handles cleanly, performs on most LSE surfaces.
  • Macbond HTA410 (IB4132, IB4432) High tack UV cured acrylic at 2.4 mil per side on a 72 pound poly coated Kraft liner. Solvent and UV resistant, instant adhesion to polyether polyurethane foam.
  • Macfilm (IF4042, IF4044) Unsupported HSA440 acrylic at 2.0 and 4.0 mil with no carrier, for the lowest possible profile. IF4042 crosses 3M 467MP. IF4044 is the nearest cross to 3M 468MP, 4.0 mil against 5.0 mil, so pull a sample before converting a running job.
  • GS Rivet Tapes (GS1001, GS1013) Solvent free rubber adhesive from 5 mil to 50 mil in adhesive widths from 0.5 to 11.5 inches, behind a dry edge liner for handling. 20 plus lbs per square inch quick tack, 22 plus lbs per inch peel, 300 plus hours to shear failure. Made to order sizes ship in 10 to 15 working days.
  • MACtransfer 210 Medium tack translucent saturated paper at 4.3 mil. Lifts and positions cut vinyl graphics, then releases clean.

Temperature Range

Most Mactac rubber systems apply at +50 degrees F and hold in service from 0 to 180 degrees F. The HTA410 acrylic systems carry the wider solvent and UV resistance. Confirm against the product data sheet for the exact part number before specifying.
