Description

The Mixpac MFHX static mixer by medmix (formerly Sulzer Mixpac) is a disposable helix mixing nozzle for dispensing two-part adhesives from F-System cartridges, also called F-Series cartridges. MFHX mixers are the 4:1 and 10:1 ratio version of the line and carry orange elements. The 1:1 and 2:1 version is the MFH with white elements. Eleven sizes are available across four bore diameters and three element counts.

How to choose an MFHX mixer

Two variables drive the selection, and they are the two dropdowns above. Bore diameter sets flow rate and bead size. Element count sets how thoroughly the A and B sides blend before the material leaves the tip. Pick the diameter first, then the element count.

  • Bore diameter: larger inner diameter means higher flow and lower pressure drop through the nozzle. Smaller bore gives a finer bead and tighter placement control.
  • Element count: more elements means more mixing passes and a longer nozzle. Fewer elements means a shorter nozzle and less resistance at the gun.
  • Retained volume: every nozzle holds material that stays inside when you change over. Longer, wider nozzles hold more. Check this column if you run short shots or change nozzles frequently.
  • Not every combination exists: the 13 mm bore is offered in 18 and 24 elements only. There is no 32 element version at 13 mm.

Compatible F-System cartridge assemblies

MFHX mixers mount directly to the cartridge. No converter is required.

The 200 and 400 designations refer to the cartridge body size, not the fill volume. Actual fill volume varies by mix ratio as shown above.

MFHX compared to other F-System mixers

The F-System line uses element and interface color to signal mix ratio. White or natural means 1:1 and 2:1. Orange means 4:1 and 10:1.

Series Mix ratios Element design Tip options
MFH 1:1 and 2:1 Helix, white elements Stepped tip
MFHX (this page) 4:1 and 10:1 Helix, orange elements Stepped tip
MFQ 1:1 and 2:1 Quadro, green elements with white interface Stepped, straight, or luer lock tip
MFQX 4:1 and 10:1 Quadro, green elements with orange interface Stepped, straight, or luer lock tip

Performance in production

  • Direct mount to the cartridge removes the converter step used with the older B-System mixer setup, which shortens changeover time.
  • Interlock connection attaches without tools.
  • Disposable construction avoids purging and cleanup between adhesive batches.
  • The helix element geometry handles a wide viscosity range, so the same nozzle style works across pastes and structural chemistries.
  • Higher element counts add nozzle length. Check clearance in fixtures and enclosed assemblies before moving from 18 to 32 elements.

Common applications

  • Electronics and communications assembly
  • Aerospace and aircraft sub-assembly with two-part structural adhesives
  • Automotive body, glass, and trim attachment with methacrylate or polyurethane
  • Wind turbine blade assembly, repair, and field service
  • Construction, concrete repair, and infrastructure work
  • Dispensing epoxy, polyurethane, silicone, acrylic, and MMA two-part adhesives and sealants

Frequently asked questions

What cartridges does the Mixpac MFHX mixer fit?

MFHX mixers fit Mixpac F-System 200 and F-System 400 Industrial cartridges in 4:1 and 10:1 mix ratios. Fill volumes are 225 ml and 250 ml for the 200 system and 415 ml and 490 ml for the 400 system.

What is the difference between MFHX and MFH mixers?

MFHX mixers have orange elements and are built for 4:1 and 10:1 cartridges. MFH mixers have white elements and are built for 1:1 and 2:1 cartridges. Lengths and diameters match between the two series, but the ratios do not interchange.

What do the numbers in MFHX 08-24T mean?

The 08 is the inner diameter in millimeters. The 24 is the number of mixing elements. The T means stepped outlet tip. The X means it is the 4:1 and 10:1 version.

Which MFHX diameter should I use?

Match the bore to your flow and bead requirement. A 6 mm bore gives finer bead control and lower output. A 10 mm or 13 mm bore gives higher flow and lower pressure drop, which helps with higher viscosity materials and larger beads.

Do more mixing elements always mix better?

More elements give more mixing passes, which helps with harder-to-mix materials. The tradeoff is a longer nozzle, more back pressure at the gun, and more material retained in the nozzle at changeover. An 18 element nozzle is often enough for easy-mixing materials.

Why is there no 13 mm nozzle with 32 elements?

The 13 mm bore is offered in 18 and 24 elements only. If you need 32 mixing elements, the widest bore available is 10 mm.

How much adhesive stays in the nozzle?

Retained volume ranges from 4.16 ml on the MFHX 06-18T to 26.48 ml on the MFHX 13-24T. See the size chart above for the value on each model. This is worth checking if you change nozzles often or dispense small shots.

Does the MFHX mixer need a converter?

No. The MFHX mounts directly to the F-System cartridge. The older B-System mixer required a converter to run on an F-System cartridge, which the MFHX eliminates.
